Nicolás Otamendi has a real chance to start in place of Lisandro Martínez against Chile for Argentina.

Otamendi could be starting on Tuesday. According to Gastón Edul, there is a real possibility that Otamendi starts in place of Lisandro.

It was Lisandro Martínez and Cristian Romero who started Argentina’s 2-0 win vs. Canada at the Copa America in the first match. Lisandro did not receive a yellow card in the match and Otamendi was substituted into the match in the second half.

The Argentina national team are presently in New Jersey preparing for the match against Chile on Tuesday at Metlife Stadium.

    • Tbh we were unlucky to get beaten by them . I can guarantee you next time they will not beat us . It wasn’t our night that match simple as that.

    • Firstly, they beat us in a WCQ and this is Copa America and secondly we can only face them in the final, while they will have to either play Brazil or Colombia in the quarter and semi and if they want to face us they will have to beat both heavy weights. Uruguay, Brazil and Columbia are on the same side of the knockout bracket. Meanwhile, we will either face Mexico or Venezuela or Ecuador in the quarter and semis. Additionally, Darwin Nunez has brought his horrendous habit of missing chance after chance to Copa America as well and has already missed two clear chances in 35mins into the first half.

      • Yeah exactly also Panama side ain’t good at all utilising those second ball. If they were precise with the passing then they could have scored few goals by now

  4. As expected, next two games will be used to find the best starting xi , formation and strategy for the knockouts. If I am not mistaken, there is no extra time except for the finals. We should expect teams to park the bus against us and try to sneak a late goal or take the game into penalties, but with Emi between the post, opposition teams won’t be very confident pushing the game to penalties.

    LM was sloppy against the canadian winger.
    Otamendi is also a weapon in set pieces.

    • When was Lisandro Martinez sloppy? In fact, he blocked a clear chance from within 6 yards. He should be the future of our deep defense. Let him gain confidence against Chile which is not as young as Uruguay or Brazil.

  6. Chile played a mix of old players, very old and young. I counted 5 or 6 from the old squad but the midget was nowhere in site, Alexis was the one that was lively.
    1-0 US. and half almost over, let’s see what Uruguay does tonight.
