Lautaro Martínez scored twice for Argentina in their 2-0 win vs. Peru.

Martínez found the back of the net twice for Argentina in a match which saw missed chances, a penalty that was missed. It was a lively a crowd in Miami Gardens to watch the world champions.

Walter Samuel replaced Lionel Scaloni due to suspension and it was Argentina who saw much of the ball. Alejandro Garnacho was lively to start the game, being fouled and winning corner kicks.

No goals would come in the first half, with Ángel Di María also being lively down the opposite wing. The second half would start and Walter Samuel would not make any changes at the start but similar to the match against Canada, Argentina would score early.

Ángel Di María would play a flick pass into Lautaro and he would score to give Argentina the 1-0 lead. That goal was Lautaro’s third in three matches at the Copa America. A corner kick takne by Ángel Di María fell to Nicolás Tagliafico and he scored but the goal was ruled out due to obstruction by Gio Lo Celso.

Shortly after, Alejandro Garnacho and Gio Lo Celso were replaced by Nicolás González and Enzo Fernández. Argentina were awarded a penalty kick after Enzo’s pass was blocked by a hand ball.

It was Leandro Paredes who took the penalty but his effort hit the post and Argentina were unable to convert. Argentina would score a second goal.

A lobbed by ball by Enzo and it fell to Lautaro who beat two Pervuian players and scored. He now has four goals in three matches at the Copa America.

Argentina would win 2-0 and will play on Thursday their quarter final match.

  1. Palacios had the highest rate our midfielder yesterday compared that he hasn’t played for the nt a such long time My humble opinion we didn’t miss de Paul last night’s match because of pala plus he was big part of our first goal.

      • You are right also I’m totally against Maca playing as DM position. I think this is waste his talent. For me he is excellent at running behind,finding space,arriving late in box also he has powerful shot. I believe Enzo is more fluid in DM. Let’s see what’s Scaloni do in next game !
