Foolish act by Enzo. The chant was clearly a jab at the French players. It’s fine to have a beef between NTs, just like how we don’t like Brazil, but publicly showing it will attract criticism and fine from the likes of FIFA, because that will be consider unsportmanship.
That being said, the people trying to play the racist card had to do some pretty incredible mental gymnastic.

Now, I understand that some people are very attached to the place where they were raised, to a point where they consider this is their one and only nationality. These people will not like it when, for example: a Chinese-American being called Chinese. But you have to see that there are also a lot of people who respect and love the roots of their family, and these people will have no problem being called by the nation that their parents or grandparents being born in. There is also the differences in appearances, which will always be the first thing sb notice when seeing. And thus, you CAN NOT hold the line of racism at calling someone by their heritages. That would be like saying calling Ozil, Can, Gundogan Turskish as “racist”. Enzo IS NOT racist, period. And one google search and you can find many respectful gestures between Enzo and black people.

Some thing similar happened with Indian cricket team. They won the t20 cricket world cup just a few weeks back(it’s a smaller world cup(every 2 years) compared to the big one(ODI-every 4 years) but still a pretty big tournament). Several senior Indian cricketers retired from the t20 format. Although they will keep playing the ODI format. I just hope I get to see Di Maria playing again!

I do not see anything racist here. This is merely pointing out that many French NT players have immigrant parents(or at least 1 immigrant parent). My definition of racism will be saying something derogatory about someone’s ethnicity.

Regardless of what the situation is with French team and most of tier1 European national teams, Enzo needs to release a video apology. Racism and transphobia is not tolerated and his live feed video could get him into big big trouble along with his team-mates. Our players most likely were most likely drunk when celebrating but if he really wants to save his career issue a public apology in video format to everyone! even if he does not end up getting a severe punishment he will undoubtedly cause problems with his chemistry at chelsea, probably messing up his play. a player of his caliber should have known better… this is a very serious issue for a player at his age and importance level to us.
