Emiliano Martínez is set to be suspended for two World Cup qualifying matches with Argentina.

Martínez will miss Argentina’s two World Cup qualifying matches against Venezuela and Bolivia due to suspension. According to Hernán Castillo, Martínez will be suspended for his gesture towards the camera man after the World Cup qualifying match vs. Colombia and due to his gesture while celebrating with the Copa America trophy.

Argentina play Venezuela on October 10 and on October 15 will play Bolivia.

  4. I guess Rulli will be filling in…he’s not a bad keeper but Dibu is one the best in the world, so it’s not the same. We are 2 pillars down, Cuti and Dibu but it’s not an excuse against Venezuela.

  7. With Cuti and Emi out and a struggling Messi back, Venezuela has started looking like a formidable opponent until and unless the unit comes together like they did against Mexico.

    jokes aside, I normally take the player’s sides but there is a big responsibility when we are under the floodlight’s and the world is watching, when we were underdogs no one cared what we did but when we actually started beating everyone and becoming unstoppable people started to try and point every little thing. we are proud but that doesn’t mean we can do whatever we want…. just be careful. the enzo situation was a nightmare.

    • Yup. He was the highest rated player for both teams and deserves to be called up over Molina who has lost all his confidence and is being benched by a make shift RB!

    • Indeed. Maffeo is quite impressive both defensively and attacking wise. I noticed it with his first game against Real and now that he’s back from a slight injury he’s picking up where he left off.
      I mentioned him before but I also need to give a shout out to Tenaglia from Deportivo Alavez, he’s been very “under the radar” excellent for his team and he can play CB as well.
      Maffeo and Tenaglia are at the tail end of their prime (27-28yrs) and both should get a look in from Scaloni especially since Montiel is warming the bench.

      Lastly I don’t know if any of you have been following Thiago Almada but I have to say he’s been quite impressive with Botafogo playing as a LW, a position that Argentina seems abit short on (Garanacho and Nico can play there but are much better on the right).

  13. ARG and especially him have a BIG Bullseye on his back and he does that shit again as if the WC celebration wasn’t embarrassing enough.
    He needs to understand that and move on but unfortunately it cost his country TWO WC qualifiers.

    He always has a winning mentality.
    Shame on the Colombian cameraman for provoking Dibu by getting too close.

    One great example of his mindset: he underwent counseling after the loss to Saudi Arabia in the World Cup.”
