Juventus winger Nicolás González had to leave the field after just 12 minutes in a Champions League match against RB Leipzig.
The Italian club confirmed on Thursday that the 26-year-old has suffered a quadriceps strain. As a result, he will face a one month recovery period and will be withdrawn from the Albiceleste squad for the October World Cup Qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia.
Now, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has to decide who will replace him. According to journalist Fernando Czyz, two possible options are being considered. One is Atlético Madrid’s Ángel Correa, who has been left out of recent squads but has plenty of experience playing for Argentina. The other option seems to be Matías Soulé from AS Roma, who was called up for the last double matchday in September but has not yet made his senior debut.
