Julián Álvarez and Rodrigo De Paul both scored for Atletico Madrid in their 5-0 win vs. Real Valladolid.
Álvarez had a goal and an assist for Atletico Madrid in their win. With Atletico leading 1-0, Antoine Griezmann had an effort on goal which was saved by the goalkeeper but Álvarez would score on the rebound to give Atletico the 2-0 lead.
Rodrigo De Paul would score his first goal of the season moments later. The Argentine would receive the ball inside the penalty area and his effort was placed into the bottle corner and he would score.
After scoring his goal, Álvarez would get his assist to make it 10 goals and two assists in 21 matches with Atletico Madrid. A pass to Griezmann who would score early in the second half.
Great by enzo Fernandez today he has scored a good goal plus his overall play was superb
Is Dibu hurt?
No he will be fine
The jewels of the WC are slowly getting thier form back- Alvarez and Fernandez. The latter has scored too.
Alvarez is another proof that Pep couldn’t utilize properly Argentians baring Messi. His club form will defintely impact his goal scoring form for the Natioal team too.
Matias Soule move was as good as Alvarez had Ranieri not been appointed.
Too early to compare G. SImone with a proven players but seems much useful player than most of our youth players.
I would rather count more these highly skilled and energitic players like Soule,Bounetto, G.Simone than Garnacho any time.
Full back position is not ideal as Molina is not playing consistently while the potential makeshifts like Gonzalez are sidelined consistently. I have read a couple of encouraging articles about Soler potential move to elite clubs. Still i prefer makeshifts like Acuna and Molina who are agile enough to assisst, score, and create goals.
To be fair, Mascherano did well under Pep. Aguero won multiple titles with City under Pep, scored hundreds of goals, even won EPL golden boots.
Atletico has won their last 7 games, playing some great attacking football but we shall see how they’d perform against top opponents. Will they keep playing attacking football or will they reverted back to their ultra defensive gameplan as usual…
It was Pep who started to rotate Kun with Jesus despite their clear difference in class and many legendary performances Kun delivered wih City before the arrival of Pep. Faire enough about Masche but only after converting him to CB which he struggled to resonate it to his NT DM role.
Alvarez was hugely disrespected as he was regulary unused susbstitue in important matches, tho Pep will take some credit for developing him in to the player he is. We shall see if he can be trusted in managing Echeverri as well.
We all are critical about Simone stubbornness yet he is contributing much in rebuilding the confidences of many Argentian talents recently. Depaul and Molina despite their dominant role in Europe with Udinise none of the elite clubs offered them the UCL chances.
There is zero evidence of Pep showing bias against Argentine players. He only started rotating Aguero after his fitness problems.
Man City squad is stacked with world class players. Always a tough job to get regular starting role there. Even their club legends did not get regular playtime.
Never said he is biased but little evidence is available to claim Pep did well with Argentians, baring Leo again. I personally wouldn’t consider Aguero’s situation as fitness issue which I belive is more of a fact than opinion. If so, it is hard to imagine how Pep could have dealt with glass made players like Dyabala.
