Lionel Messi visits Azerbaijan for a charity event

One week after receiving the MLS MVP trophy, Lionel Messi embarked on a journey of over 11,000 kilometers to Azerbaijan. Joined by former Barcelona teammates Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, Messi attended a private charity event in the capital city of Baku.

During the event, Messi was honored with a personalized rug featuring an image of him lifting the World Cup trophy, a gesture that reflected Azerbaijan’s admiration for the Leo.

“I have discovered the culture and the people of Azerbaijan,” Messi said, expressing gratitude for the warm reception. “Thank you for the support.”
