Cristian Medina, the 22-year-old midfielder, is set to leave Boca Juniors to join Estudiantes de La Plata on a six-month spell before making a move to Europe. The transfer, confirmed by Estudiantes’ president Juan Sebastián Verón on social media, is part of a strategic partnership between the club and the Foster Gillet investment group.
The ambitious move was made possible by Foster Gillet, which recently entered into an agreement with Estudiantes. The group paid $15 million to secure Medina’s transfer from Boca Juniors to the “Pincha.” After his time with Estudiantes, the Argentine midfielder is expected to join one of the European clubs associated with the investment group.
