Estudiantes and Racing both won their opening matches at the 2025 Copa Libertadores.
Both Argentine clubs won their first match and both were away from home. Estudiantes won 2-0 away against Carabobo of Venezuela.
Santiago Núñez gave Estudiantes the 1-0 lead and Santiago Ascacibar scored a penalty to give Estudiantes the 2-0 win. Estudiantes lead Group A with three points.
Racing were away to Fortaleza in Brazil and won 3-0 to go top of their group. Maximilian Salas, Agustín Almendra and Santiago Sosa were the goal scorers.
