Nico Paz named Serie A’s Best U23 player of 2024-2025 season

Nico Paz has been named as Serie A’s Best U23 player of the 2024-2025 season.

Paz joined Como from Real Madrid, scoring six goals and assisting nine times in 35 matches. His former club Real Madrid are reportedly interested in bringing him back to the club.

The 20 year old’s performances had him called up to the Argentina national team by coach Lionel Scaloni where he played against Bolivia and Brazil. He is called up for Argentina’s World Cup qualifying matches in June.

  1. Mascherano is a POS manager. Thank God he is in the MLS and nowhere near our youth teams. Overrated player and awful manager. No surprise we started winning when he left the scene. They pushed out Martino for this hot dumpster fire.

    • Clearly, Messi didn’t learn a damn thing from the 2018 World cup mess! Mascherano’s tactics will turn Miami into a full blown clown show in the upcoming club world cup!

  2. Its crystal clear that after spain we have the best young talents, but two entirely diffrent way of managing spain want young lads to throw into deepend and test their potential hence gain experience and builds modern day legends, where as argentia gives only limited talents and no way for teenage debuts may be the likes of pastore failed tobuild the hype once upon a time is still hunting afa

    • City scouts were monitoring him for the past couple of months and now their interest towards the youngster seems genuine. Let’s see how the negotiations develop.

  3. IMO the biggest area for development & backup is the full back position. Hoping to see that getting fixed in the remaining NT matches this year. Paz can continue his development in the meanwhile.

    • The coaching staff can only select from what’s available, right? Who is up and coming RB for example that has not been considered? I can’t think of any. Giay is not it.

LB: Tagliafico, Medina, Barco, Soler, Ortega, Nico Gonzalez.
      RB: Molina, Foyth, Simeone ?

      • The LB seems OK, but our RB position is disastrous. By the way, it’s Scaloni’s playing position that’s our weakest point right now. I think part of the problem is Scaloni sticking with only two options, Molina and Montiel. He Never tried other players in this position recently, if I am not mistaken.

        • Who is there to try though? Maffeo was considered but apparently not up to the task. Scaloni tried Simeone as a wingback when we switch to back 3 and maybe that’s one of the tactical tweaks he has in mind. There are simply not a lot of options available in that position for us.

      • For rb- maffeo, giay can be atleast tried. Nardoni did a good job as makeshift rb in youth tournament. I wld like them play some minutes before a verdict is passed. Look at how Gianluca simeone has blossomed while not being a top name as a talent till recently. Montiel is good for penalties. Molina is good at times. But also inconsistent. If an injury happens to molina, we are so badly exposed. Since we have already qualified, atleast the remaining matches this year is a great opportunity to trial some of these backups. Even for lb – barco, soler should get decent minutes in NT jersey.

  4. Despite having a strong season, Madrid would likely prefer him to spend atleast one more season at como to further demonstrate his continuous development. But if he does go back next season, he will find himself in another Giovanni Simeone like situation where his role will be limited to occasional late sub and some odd starts in domestic cup games.

Garnacho might be getting a lot of flak for his big and numerous misses, but he has somehow managed to play two full seasons in the most difficult league in the world. This experience will no doubt help accelerate his development wherever he goes, as long as he chooses his next destination and league wisely! I hope Napoli comes back for him, he needs a strict manager like Conte who can actually take his game to the next level!
