  1. In normal circumstances, this would be a nice move. Leaving a top team in La Liga to play with friends in a different and easier league seems like a wise choice. Paredes did the same just a couple of days ago. However, the WC for clubs learned that the difference between European top teams and both the Argentine league and MLS teams is huge. So, this is not a good move considering the WC is just 11 months away.

Over the past years we saw Argentine talents that are supposed to grow into the national team move to Europe. However, many are not earning starting spots and spend too much time on the bench. Examples are Anselmino at Chelsea, Soler at Bournemouth, Prestianni at Benfica, Echeverri at Manchester etc. Hopefully Mastantuono is going to play at Madrid, but I fear we will see him on loan to a smaller La Liga team.

The core in 2026 will be Dibu, Romero, Alexis McAllister, Enzo, Alvarez and Lautaro. We do need new fresh legs and lots of talent to stand a chance against the likes of Spain, France, Portugal and Germany. With many talents on the bench in Europe, we need to change our focus to players who actually established themselves in teams in Europe and elsewhere. Paz for sure. Castro and Dominquez at Bologna? Bernabei and Barboza from the Brazilian league? Maffeo? Will Carboni reach a high level again? Maybe Equi Fernandez at Sociedad?

DePaul moving to a lower level league won’t help the NT.

    • I was excited by Equi Fernandez move to join Spain, until DePaul news. That has dumpened my excitation. Will scaloni be bold to bench DePaul should his level drop.
DePaul’s friendship with Messi is shielding him and will be kind of detrimental to the national team’s performance. I hope he rejects that move.

    • Castro is a starter at bologna, as for Carboni it won’t affect; there are too many potential AM like Almada, Echeverri,Nico Paz and even Giovanni Locelso
