Bayer Leverkusen have decided not to allow Claudio Echeverri to join Argentina for the U20 World Cup.
Claudio Echeverri will not be joining Diego Placente’s team for the tournament later this month. Simon Rolfes, the club’s managing director of sport, was quoted by Kicker as saying:
“That’s wishful thinking, we’re going to need the players. He’s staying. That’s our view and also City’s.”
Exequiel Palacios was injured in Bayer Leverkusen’s most recent match and Bayer Leverkusen will be without him until the start of the new year. Real Madrid’s current coach Xabi Alonso also raised doubts about Franco Mastantuono’s participation in the tournament.
The U20 World Cup will take place between September 27 and October 19 in Chile.
