Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni: “All the new guys who have joined will surely play”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has stated that all the new players who have joined the team will play against Puerto Rico.

Lionel Scaloni held a press conference after the game where he spoke about why Lionel Messi did not play against Venezuela. Speaking to the media after Argentina’s 1-0 win against Venezuela, here is what he had to say:

“It was a pretty good first half, with chances to score. We could have scored a few more.

“The first 20, 25 minutes of the second half weren’t good. Then we changed the system and were a little more solid, we improved.

“The test is very useful for us; it shows us that all our rivals are tough. All our opponents play at 100%. Venezuela played a good game.

“We won, but that’s not the important thing. We wanted to see how the team was doing and get some playing time under our belts.

“I wanted to try the 5-3-2 option, which is an interesting variation, and we have the players to do it. There are times when defensive solidity is needed.

“If we had been more clinical in the final few meters, perhaps the game would have been over sooner. But the goalkeeper did a great job.”

Scaloni also spoke about Tuesday’s match against Puerto Rico:

“On Tuesday, all the new guys who have joined will surely play. I hope they take advantage of the opportunity.”
