Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni on Lionel Messi not playing vs. Venezuela

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about Lionel Messi not playing against Venezuela.

Lionel Messi was not part of the Argentina national team in their 1-0 win against Venezuela on Friday. Messi was in at the Hard Rock stadium with his family to watch the match but was not on the bench.

Scaloni did not confirm in Thursday’s press conference if Messi would start the match or not. Speaking to the media after Argentina’s 1-0 win, here is what Scaloni had to say about Messi not playing:

“I decided that Leo (Messi) wouldn’t play. I wanted to see Lautaro (Martínez) and Julián (Álvarez), and we also had Flaco López on the bench, who we’ll also be seeing soon.”

The Argentina national team will play Puerto Rico on Tuesday at Inter Miami’s Chase stadium.
