Argentina U17 squad announced for the World Cup in Qatar

Diego Placente has announced the 21-player list for Argentina’s U17 National Team ahead of the 2025 World Cup in Qatar, scheduled from November 3 to 27. The squad includes players who won the L’Alcudia Tournament earlier this year, two based in Europe, and several notable absences.

Among the European-based players are goalkeeper José Castelau from Real Madrid’s youth team and forward Can Armando Güner from Borussia Mönchengladbach. Güner, born in Germany, has Argentine nationality through his mother and carries “Armando” as his middle name in honor of Diego Maradona.

Several players have already trained or debuted with professional teams in Argentina, including Thomas De Martis(Lanús), Jerónimo Gómez Mattar (Newell’s), and Gastón Bouhier (Argentinos Juniors). Matías Satas (Boca Juniors) also makes the list after being named among the top 60 young talents to watch by a British newspaper.

The number 10 shirt will go to Uriel Ojeda from San Lorenzo, who trains regularly with the first team. Missing from the list are Juan Cruz Meza (River), Alex Verón (Vélez), and Tomás Parmo (Independiente), who were key players during the qualification process.
