Facundo Buonanotte ends Chelsea loan and joins Leeds United

Facundo Buonanotte will continue his season in the Premier League with Leeds United after cutting short his loan spell at Chelsea. The Argentine midfielder was recalled by Brighton & Hove Albion, who own his rights, and sent on loan to Leeds until the end of the season.

The arrival of Liam Rosenior as Chelsea’s new head coach gave Buonanotte hope of more minutes, but his role in the squad did not change. With limited playing time, all sides agreed that a move would be the best option.

Brighton’s decision is based on the need for Buonanotte to play regularly and continue adjusting to the speed of English football. At Leeds, he is expected to have a bigger role and stay visible in the Premier League.

Leeds are currently 17th in the table, seven points above West Ham United, who sit in the relegation zone. The club is looking for attacking options to help secure safety, and Buonanotte arrives as a player who can add creativity in the final third.

Buonanotte made eight appearances for Chelsea, scoring once against Lincoln City and adding two assists. He was recently an unused substitute in the 3–2 loss to Arsenal in the League Cup.

The move to Leeds is also important for his international goals. Buonanotte hopes to return to the Argentina national team and get back into Lionel Scaloni’s plans ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
