Julián Álvarez scored twice and had one assist for Atletico Madrid in their 5-2 win against Tottenham Hotspur.
Álvarez made it seven goals and three assists in 10 Champions League matches with Atletico Madrid. With the score at 0-0, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Antonín Kinský slipped and the ball would end up with Álvarez who would pass it to Antoine Griezmann and he would score Tottenham’s first goal of the match.
With Atletico Madrid leading 2-0, once more, it was a mistake from the Tottenham goalkeeper and Álvarez would get to the ball and score to give Atletico Madrid the 3-0 lead. With Atletico leading 4-1, Álvarez scored a goal we had seen before from him.
The Argentine would score a near repeat goal of the one he scored with the Argentina national team in the semi finals of the 2022 World Cup against Croatia where he ran the length of the pitch and scored his second goal of the match.
Nicolás González was substituted into the match for Álvarez while Giuliano Simeone started the match for Atletico Madrid.
