No matches announced in March for Argentina national team

No matches have been announced for the Argentina national team for this month.

The Finalissima was initially set to take place on March 27 in Qatar and that match has been cancelled, as CONMEBOL and UEFA were unable to reach an agreement for a new venue. The cancellation of the Finalissima leaves the Argentina national team with no matches to be played in March during the FIFA break.

Only the Finalissima had been announced for this month. The Argentina national team’s last two matches were against Puerto Rico and Angola.

  1. The most useless football federation of all time. At the moment AFA is the hindrance for the national team rather than a support. Cannot ever organise a decent friendly over last 4 years cycle. Scaloni and team deserves even more praise for what they have achieved with this incompetent money hungry board they have at the top.

  2. The cancellation of the finalissima and the friendly against Qatar is very bad news. Now, there is no chance to test players like Panichelli, Barco, Pellegrino, Anselmino, Senesi and maybe others in a friendly.

The next matches will be warm-up matches for the WC in June.

Scaloni and staff wasted earlier opportunities by sticking with the winning squad from 2022. I am afraid the ‘Never change a winning team’ formula will not be enough to win the WC again. We still got great players (Enzo, Alexis, Nico Paz, Licha and Messi) but way too many players that are past their prime, too slow or just too old to play 8 matches at the highest level. The friendlies were necessary to find enough depth in players 12-26. Suspensions and injuries will happen. Therefore, we needed to test other players than the usual starting eleven.
    It is just sad.
I just don’t understand why UEFA and Conmebol could not agree on a neutral stadium. Borussia’s Westfalen stadium has a huge capacity, the Johan Cruyff stadium in Amsterdam holds 50,000 people. I am sure something could have been arranged.

If Scaloni calls 30 players I suggest they play local teams. Matches against Boca Juniors, Velez Sarsfield or Racing will at least give him the chance to see players in action. Just training at Ezeiza is not going to help the team forward.
