Sergio Romero will retire from football and become a coach.

Romero is set to become a coach after retiring from football. According to Fede Cristofanelli, Romero is retiring from football and will become a coach, with his coaching staff already defined.

He was willing to be the back-up of Facundo Cambeses with Racing but he was not picked. Romero’s last match was with Argentinos Juniors in the Copa Argentina.

The 39 year old is the goalkeeper with the most matches played with the Argentina national team. Romero played 96 games, reaching the World Cup final in 2014 but winning the U20 World Cup in 2007 and Olympic gold in 2008 with the Argentina team.
