Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about repeating as World Cup champions.
Lionel Scaloni has won four trophies with the Argentina national team, the biggest one being in 2022 when he won the World Cup. No team has successfully defended and won back to back World Cup titles since 1958 and 1962 when Brazil repeated as winners. Speaking in an interview with CONMEBOL, Scaloni spoke about the team and the World Cup. Here is what he had to say:
“To win, a lot of things have to come together. It’s not just about playing well.
“It’s very difficult. We are obviously going to try, just like Argentina does every time it steps up. Try to reach the maximum. It’s tough but not impossible.
“With the coaching staff, we leave nothing to chance but we are very concise in what we tell them.
We” don’t pass on all the information we really have because we block them up.
“We breathe football and try to make sure nothing slips through our fingers.”

Hope Lionel Scaloni comes up with a few fresh tactical ideas this time. Modern football is so data-driven that old patterns eventually get decoded — by analysts, coaches, and increasingly by AI systems too.
Didier Deschamps looked tactically cornered at times in the last World Cup, yet Kylian Mbappé almost dragged France across the line because he becomes an absolute beast in the national jersey.
For Argentina, it was the magic of Lionel Messi blended with extraordinary team spirit. Hopefully this time a few more shoulders step up to carry the mantle, the unity remains intact, and Scaloni once again finds a way through every battle.
