Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni spoke about Leonardo Balerdi’s replacement.

Lionel Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Monday where he stated that Lionel Messi will play against Iceland, he also gave an update on Julián Álvarez and Leandro Paredes and an update on Gonzalo Montiel and Nahuel Molina. In the same press conference, Scaloni spoke about who can replace Leonardo Balerdi. Here is what he had to say:

“In Balerdi’s position, we can be covered, we will look at other positions depending on how the other team mates are. We have an idea and based on how they finish tomorrow, we will decide.”

  1. I think it will be a gamble to not replace balerdi with another defender. Freak injuries can happen anytime. And I’m worried that knockout stages games involving Argentina tend to go to extra time. Can’t imagine and also cannot expect otamendi to carry on for entirety of the game.

  2. Looks like almost everyone is set to play except for Dibu. Also, the statement on Balerdi’s replacement – I feel Scaloni won’t be calling Senesi as a replacement. Feel bit sad for Senesi but I trust Scaloni and company 100%.

    • Yes for sure Senesi wont be called but he mentioned other psoitions well?? i guess someone will have to go, we will see
