1. Lisandro Martinez had a great game. Even at the risk of sounding pessimistic, there were glaring woes in the way we played – giving balls away cheaply, missed passes, slow build up et al. However, the fighting spirit was not lacking. It was not easy to win several aerial battles against 6ft+ Austrians. And Messi’s comeback after the penalty debacle and after missing the seater few minutes past the penalty would be remembered for long.

   • Noone will remember those.only if argentina lost then those lapses would have been pointed out but not now

2. OMG so much pessimism full in the comments. It’s like Scaloni is the worst coach and Argentina is the worst team.
   Let’s analyse.
   They were playing a very decent team much better than some of us think and we won even without reaching second or third gear. Could have score atleast two or three more considering the penalty miss and I can’t think of any clear cut chances for Austria. Of course there are always things to improve and I am glad there are as very few teams who pick so early can go on and win the trophy. Let them pick at the correct time.
   Very positive results in a difficult group. Praying Romero is not badly injured but we will improve in the knock outs for sure. I am very happy with everything and there is no reason for so.kuch negativity and pessimism after all we won 2 tough matches without any scare comfortably.

5. An excellent match???
   We won 2 -0, but it was a lazy and often bad performance by the team. Did someone count how many times we lost possession in our own half? At least dozens of times. We played so slow, it often looked like sixty years old veterans on a summer night. Was it the heat or humidity? No, it was played in airconditioned venue. We can be glad that Austria did not have to skills to pound on the countless mistakes. Against Germany, France, Netherlands or Ivory Coast we would be in a lot of trouble. Although Messi scored 2 great goals, I think he played well below his standard. Lost the ball many times and the passing was sometimes off. He looked tired after missing the penalty, but picked himself up. The play became better once Gonzalez came on. At least he wanted to go forward and not backwards like most players. Alvarez should have scored the second goal. Now we have become fully dependent on Messi. Our chances increased after the Algeria game, but after watching the Austria game, I wonder if the team can really get out of second gear for more than 2 minutes.
   Jordan will probably be a walk in the park. Maybe give some playing time to others. Hope Romero injury is not too serious.

     • Yeah sure, defending a narrow lead of just 1 goal for 50 minutes is a smart tactic. A freak shot from long range, a deflection, a corner or free kick and gone is our lead. I wonder what the response here would have been here if Austria’s header in the 88th minute went in instead of just wide.
       A two goal margin makes play so much easier and more relaxed. IMHO, we should have pushed for the second goal way earlier.

       • Alvarez missed 1v1 nico missed 1v1 then nico missed 1 open header.we got enough chances just that our forward line is not match fit so they are missing a lot
