Manchester City want to sign Gerónimo Rulli of Marseille as a back-up goalkeeper.
Gerónimo Rulli could be joining Manchester City. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Manchester club want to sign him as a new back-up goalkeeper to replace James Trafford.
Rulli would be keen on the move and Olympique Marseille are aware of the interested in the goalkeeper.
Our keepers are all old (Emi 34, Rulli 34, Musso 32) and by the next Copa and WC, we need to start with a new set of goalkeepers already. It’s a good thing that Santiago Beltran joined the training during the WC and by next few games he needs to begin having game time already. Gotta leave for Europe RIGHT NOW. Thank you for all the memories and triumphs for our aging GKs, but it’s time for new, fresh young bloods NOW.
Please tell me Scaloni learned his mistakes from this past WC already.
So Rulli wants to be a benchwarmer at City? How’s that for an ambitious career goal? Sergio Romero was notorious for being content with a bench warmer role for many of the clubs he played for.
On the other hand, Rulli is already 34, which still at peak for goalies, but he has already played in Spain, Netherlands and France, won a WC and Copa Americas with Argentina so maybe wants to experience playing in EPL too, and with the number of games City plays, maybe he can get some playing time. But both Musso and Rulli won’t be regulars anymore if he moves. Lack of playing time cost Benitez. We are still a long time away from any major tournament, so let’s see how the GK situation will play itself out.
It’s done for Rulli…we need to search for a new GK…let.him play for good club and earn better…he’s at wrong side of his age anyway..
34 is like 30 for outfield players, so not that old, so he might still be good for next Copa America at least

My concern here is that Europen teams are gonna play nations league x 2, euros, qualifiers before the world cup whereas conmebol will have only copa nd qualifiers, along with some useless friendlies. They need to do something about it.
Afa should arrange friendlies with mid african teams like Cape verde , Nigeria , Senegal even algeria as well. If possible we should play against Morocco as well.
Many people here are worrying that we wont be strong team without Messi.
Our current team is not like 2010-18 era where we used to rely on Messi’s magic . Yes, messi is an important player for us . But still we can easily dominate with the talent we have on the rader now.
We won the Copa 2024 where Messi played limited minutes due to injury. In Wc2026 , Leo was a beast but I still believe after messi’s retirement we wont be a weak team.
All we need is a coach who can support the youngsters and give them minutes .

Then AFA is worrying that won’t be money without Messi. So they very likely are doing everything now to prolong his NT career unnecesarilly just to contract another useless friendly in Guatemala, Panama, Hongkong, Angola, Honduras, India and so on and so on. Just for the addistional manoey they get if only Messi showing before countryside public. At the same time we will waste time for figuring out new midfield formation and find out new No.10.
