FIFA have opened seven cases against the Argentina national team after the World Cup final.
A disciplinary proceeding against the Argentina national team and the AFA has been opened. According to Hernán Castillo, the red card to Enzo Fernández and his suspension is one of the cases.
Nahuel Molina is also being investigated.
The Argentina national team coming out late for the first and second halves against Switzerland and England is another case.
Thiago Almada and a one match suspension due to incidents during the tournament.
Roberto Ayala, who is part of the Argentina national team coaching staff could receive a three match suspension for his involvement in the incidents with Dani Olmo of Spain.
Leandro Paredes could also receive a three man suspension for incidents after the final of the World Cup.
They are also investigating the fans over discriminatory chants and the Malvinas flag.

I think Argentina lost the whole focus when they scored 1st goal against England. Why would Enzo engage with vistors in stadium, keep winning but also keep low profile and do all what you want after lifting the trophy. Spain was not a great team but they kept composure. Had Argentina won it, it would had been a memorable story with 2 to 3 great comebacks. World only remembers winners and somewhere players over celebrated and that may have been one of the reasons why final was off. Nothing else matters, 3 finals in 4 years and just 1 trophy. AFA needs to make a note of that, they had Messi all the while at peak but only 1 world cup. Could have done better.
I am eager to see what Scaloni has in store from now onwards. An era is over, and the players he selects for the upcoming friendlies will determine where his mind truly is. If he is half-hearted and still wants to quit by December, then it is better that he does not carry on for us. It is a tough job. An elite national team coach with so many talented players at his disposal cannot be half-interested while coaching the nation.
Joachim Löw is a perfect example. He carried on for 15 years, constantly trying to make Germany better. In the end, he couldn’t, even though he had won the World Cup. Sometimes, it is better to leave the stage while your reputation is still strong.
Ancelotti explicitly confirmed that players over the age of 30 at the World Cup would no longer be considered as he shifts focus toward a younger generation.
Hopefully Scaloni also doing same…unless the player is must and no options available in younger generations..!
He knows what’s recent WCs learn – young teams win. I see common sense is prevailing about Messi retirement. Give him big farewell game and start a new cycle.

Midfield is rather forced to ‘have it all’ but I think Nico Paz could be another AM/No.10 which was succesfully converted to more deeper one (more defensive tasks) just as De Paul or MacAllister once were. Prestianni is the only one I consider ‘must be’ in the midfield.

Sorry but your football knowledge and understanding is too poor to make such delusional lineups, 5 attacking midfielders in the same lineup is laughable, not a single one defensive midfielder too. Prestianni, Carizzo? Mid level team bench warmers in starting 11?
Enzo is not an attacking midfielder. Paz can be adapted to this role just as once De Paul (pure attacking No.10 in Udinese with many goals and assists), MacAllister were (see him in Argentinos Juniors and Boca). And even Paredes (left winger in Boca times and early in Europe). Sorry but your knowledge and especially recent Argentina players history covering are poor. Converting attacking minded, creative players to more defensive tasks is what strongest teams are doing more often thesedays, if they have too many good players on the same position. “Mid level team bench warmers”. People were saying this again and again just before 2022 WC, when Scaloni started to call such ones. Prestianni is probably the best in this midfield.
Forgot about Almada. He still deserves to be in 25 squad if in form.
2 man midfield always need at least a proper DM, Delgado is promising. Perrone ready to replace Paredes.
Prestianni, Maher Carrizo and Zeballos can be a great options at wings…they can dribble past opponents…we really miss that..!
You still think Lo Celso has a future with NT?
Delgado, Paredes and Aranda starting together more often in Boca. There is some experience transfer then.
Carrizo seems to be quite natural RW.
Lo Celso unlike the 2022 people still has something to prove in my opinion. To me wasted WC 2026 potentiall. I think MOTM of the third group game. Still creative. Being 32 on next Copa is not that old for player who’s not pace depending anyway.
I say WHO CARES, yes the players were stupid, childish, sore losers and acted in a classless manner instead of standing up and taking it like men but the would-be suspensions are a good thing to prevent such nonsense in the future and 2, doesn’t really make a big difference.
I would think FIFA would reverse the RED card for ENZO because the more I looked at it, the more I was convinced whatever his name was flipped himself in the air when Enzo just stopped.
Whether Messi stays or leaves, I personally would love to see him retire from the NT and let the rebuild begin and if Scaloni can’t handle that then find another and don’t waste time, one option would be the U-20 coach, forgot his name. Young, energetic and knows the younger players that if Scoloni decides to stepdown that is.
I want to see SPEED, dribbling ability and excitement, no more slow buildup because that era is gone now and ARG needs to keep up.
I believe that Messi’s retirement from the national team would be beneficial for all parties involved, and I am hopeful that he will choose to retire so that the national team can begin its rebuilding process.
No matter how much I try to avoid it,We squandered a historical opportunity, the loss still keeps popping into my mind. I think the reason we failed against Spain was that perhaps we showed them too much respect. The final 10 minutes of the match had them literally on the back foot, even though we had 10 players on the pitch, five of whom were defenders. I don’t understand why on earth Scaloni chose to sit back against Spain.
I am still not able to digest this loss. Spain, despite having around 90% possession, is also a team that can be quite poor in front of goal. Looking back, it feels like we could have been more aggressive instead of allowing them to dictate so much of the game.
Exactly, Spain with all their attack and possession at their hand, they often have zero threat infront of the goal simply because they don’t have world class goal scorers. I was delighted to know we would play Spain and not France, Norway, or Netherlands whose teams have top strikers and can cause damage. Alas, we did not utilize this opportunity and the main reason was Scaloni who knew that his trusted players were completely tired and exhausted after playing 7 matches and with less rest days, he failed to fire his jewels like Paz, Barco, Palacios, and Celso. That outcome was mainly due to coaching failure in understanding the team’s abilities at that stage, the opponent shortcoming, and arriving with a plan parallel to this level of the competition – the world cup final, for God’s sake.
Solution: FIRE Scaloni on spot.
The worst kind of parents are the ones who never see any fault in their kids and just keep enabling them.
I’m a die hard Argentina fan, but I can’t defend the bunch of thugs ( paredes, molina and otamendi )we have in this team. Paredes has now started brawls in two different World Cups. His childish antics against the Netherlands ( kicking the ball to their bench) lit a fire under them and helped fuel their comeback. He was lucky to escape a red card against Spain with a clear red card assault to rodri , while Enzo ended up paying the price cause referee had regret not sending Paredes off earlier.
Millions of Spanish fans were rooting for Messi and Argentina because of the Barca connection, and this idiot goes and assaults our boy Gavi for absolutely no reason, ruining all that goodwill.
Enough. Leave the national team and take your thug mentality with you. You got outplayed by a far superior Spanish midfield. Just Accept it and move on.
They made Argentina look disgraceful in front of billions of viewers, as if the team didn’t already have enough people looking for reasons to hate us.
I mean… TECHNICALLY Gavi hit him first lol
(I’m kidding I’m kidding lmao)
This is bs, I’ve watched all 2026 WC matches and there were ugly fights, insults, throwing objects at players in other matches. So FIFA should know better that the final is tough and things can go out of control when assigning a crazy referee giving 7 yellow cards and on red to one team while excluding the opponent from any card. When things become unfair and some bench players are nasty as the case with Spain, the outcome is altercation and physical fight. It was the FIFA fault afterall.
This was bound to happen. One thing Argentina need to learn is that we can win matches; we have the talent, and we always have. But we don’t have to make every game ugly. We have been like this for a long time.
The only positive that comes out of this verdict by FIFA is that the myth of “FIFA always favours Argentina” has been broken. That counter-narrative has finally been shattered.
True
Nah it’s not been broken. The same people calling for it have pivoted to “Argentina are so terrible that even with FIFA favouring them, they STILL lost! Like failing on an exam you cheated on”
The way things are turning out it seems 2030 world cup maynot happen at all, at the best it will be hosted in south america.
Should be hosted in south america
Yup, i agree
LOL 🙂 The way we are getting investigated by FIFA is like we are some criminal or thugs… i dont even know whether to laugh or cry at this situation
