Lionel Messi is in Spain to receive the Princess of Asturias award.
Messi and his wife Antonella are presently in Spain where Messi will receive the Princess of Asturias award, to recognize his outstanding career. Speaking in an interview with EFEDeportes, the Argentine spoke about the award. Here is what he had to say:
“Honestly, I’m very happy. In fact, my father was extremely excited about this award.
“We knew it was difficult because of the matches I had, but he insisted that we come, that I come here to spend these days and receive the award.
“This award goes beyond what one offers on the field, or what I have offered throughout my career.
“To be honest, he was very pleased with this honor, so l’m sure he’s enjoying it too.”
