Enzo Fernández spoke about his World Cup with the Argentina national team.
Fernández scored two goals at the World Cup, the first against Egypt and the second against England. He was also a regular starter for Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni. Speaking in an interview with LosEdul, here is what he had to say:
“For me, it went from low to high. The first few games, I felt good. The second, kind of and by the third, I didn’t feel good anymore.
“I wasn’t feeling good in my form. Physically, yes, because I’d been playing a lot of games here in the Premier League, every three days and physically, I was find to be honest. But as time went on, I started to wear myself out physically too.
“And then it was like starting all over again after the group stage, in the knockout rounds.
“How would I rate my World Cup? A seven. I’m so grateful to have experienced moments like the goals against Egypt and England. They truly will go down in our national team’s history.
“Obviously sad because we couldn’t win the title again, which we wanted to win. But as I said before, I value all the effort, everything the group did to get Argentina back to another World Cup final.”
