Alejandro Garnacho’s agent speaks on Argentina national team decision

Alejandro Garnacho’s agent, Quique de Lucas, spoke about Garnacho’s decision to play with the Argentina ntaional team.

Garnacho first represented Spain at youth level but has since gone on to play for the Argentina U20 national team and has trained with the senior team. The Argentine is expected to be called up to the senior national team for the June friendly matches after not being allowed to join the U20 team for the U20 World Cup.

Quique de Lucas, Garnacho’s agent, spoke about the 18 year old’s decision to play for Argentina. Speaking in an interview with Relevo, here is what he had to say:

“I believe that the Spain issue is closed and there is no need to hide it. It’s very bad management by the Spanish federation. I don’t know from who or, I can guess who, but it’s very bad management or a very bad policy.

“And I believe that Garnacho is not going to be the only case in which a player with dual nationality could be lost. I can honestly say that.

“And he decided to go with Argentina because he really feels it. For him, when this possibility opens up, imagine, to be able to play with a national team like Argentina.

“His entire maternal family, his grandparents, he has felt them since he was a child and for him, it is not a problem. It is a blessing.”
