Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Leonardo Balerdi from Marseille.
Leonardo Balerdi could soon be leaving French football. According to L’Équipe, the centre-back has attracted interest from clubs, most notably Diego Simeone’s Atletico.
Balerdi joined Marseille from Dortmund and has spent four years at the club, playing over 100 matches with Marseille. The 25 year old has played two matches with the Argentina national team.

Simeone is very particular about how he expects his players to train and perform. Not everyone makes the cut. Somehow Nehuen Perez did not impress him even though he might be a tough defender that Simeone should like. Would Balerdi fare better? It certainly seems like an upgrade for his career to move to a much better club and league.
I agree it is tough to make the cut under Simone which would assisst players to explore thier weaknesses. Molina still slowly improving on his defensive role to survive the cut. Unlike Perez trial period, Ballerdi will ‘ve an opportunity to fully unleash his potential as Athletico has no more well established CB Players like Godin and Gimenez but only makeshifts (Witsel).
Sounds good for Balerdi as ATM will be deffenetly an upgrade from OM !
Btw do u happen to know if he can play in several positions as a defender ?
Balerdi is right footed, can play RCB or LCB in back four and back 3.
