  1. Wow an Argentine u20 team in the QF for the first time since…………2011!!! It’s been THAT long since Argentina’s been in the QF of an u20! Can you all believe it?! That 2011 team had Tagliafico, Pezzella, Roberto Pereyra and Coco Lamela amongst it’s ranks and they were quite good…..and unlucky to lose to Portugal on penalties.
Now, about this current team, well the scoreline flattered them quite a bit because the young eagles really outplayed them for long stretches but I have to say that Placente’s boys know who to make chance and (more importantly) SEIZE that chance!! the 3rd and 4th goals were predatory goals in the best ways possible. Now I can talk about Sarco (top scorer thus far) or Subi or Carrizo (did much better today) or Prestianni, Gorosito etc…You know all the attacking players but I would like to mention Acuna and especially Delgado, the unsung heros that keep the team ticking. Acuna is an all rounder and it’s easy to forget that during the U20 WCQ he was playing RW and now he’s DM, a nice show of versatility, hope it continues. Then there is ‘the 5’ of this team, Delgado……..now there are those who give the ball and there are those who put it in the back of the net but you first need someone to take it and keep it and -if necessary- go and that’s Delgado. Hope he keeps developing even if (sadly) Boca hasn’t been doing a great job of developing the pibes in recent years like their Millionairos rivals.
All in all a well earned win and hope the Placente machine keeps churning.

  2. So it is Sarco vs Mora in quarters. Argentina-Mexico is a worthy match up for finals in this tournament. A match at time for Placente from here onwards & lets see where it goes.
Between 35-50mins, Nigerians really troubled us. But we waited for our chances & Nigerian kept gifting errors. Clinical win. Barbi-Ramirez+Pieranni combo looks reassuring compared to the defense set up of previous youth editions. Also happy to see Silvetti step up & Prestianni clearly better than Montoro. Subiabre more impactful as 2nd half sub. Delgado has been our silent hero in this tournament.

  3. Nigeria overall playing better. More possession & winning all aerial duels. But they were not clinical & that helped in 1st half. Some confidence building with Barbi’s performance. 2 goals is a good cushion. But expecting to see Placente break their momentum in 2nd half.
