Nicolás Otamendi is set to join River Plate after the World Cup.
Otamendi will be returning to play in Argentina after the World Cup with the Argentina national team. According to Juan Pablo Marrón, the 38 year old is going to join the Argentine club.
The defender is set to leave Benfica and return to Argentina after 16 years in Europe. Otamendi began his career with Vélez Sarsfield and in 2010 joined FC Porto. In Europe, he has played with FC Porto, Valencia, Manchester City and Benfica.
He had a short stint on loan at Atlético Mineiro in Brazil. In Europe, he has won 21 trophies.
