Javier MASCHERANO could soon have some company in China. According to reports, Augusto FERNANDEZ of Atletico Madrid could very well end up joining Chinese club Beijing Renhe. The midfielder has been left out of Diego SIMEONE’s last three match squads and per El Confidencial, the player has already told the Atletico dressing room that he will be leaving and joining Beijing Renhe.
Talks regarding the move reportedly started weeks ago and with very little playing time and now at 31 years old, this could be Augusto’s last move.
The player joined SIMEONE’s team from Celta Vigo back in January 2016, however, a big ligament injury saw him out of action for a lengthy period of time. Fellow Argentinian Luciano VIETTO already left the club earlier this month as he went on loan to Valencia.
Confirmation on Thursday that the Argentina National Team will play at at the Etihad stadium.
It was already confirmed that the Argentina National Team would play two friendly matches in March. The first against four time world champions Italy with the second coming against the 2010 world champions Spain. What was not fully confirmed were the locations.
Per the official Argentina team Twitter account, Argentina against Italy will be played at the Etihad stadium, home of Sergio AGUERO and Nicolas OTAMENDI’s Manchester City. The last time the team played in Manchester was on the red side of the city, at Old Trafford back in 2014 in a 1-0 loss to Portugal. This would be the first time the team would play at the Manchester City’s stadium.
The second match against Spain will be played at the newly opened Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid. The stadium is home to Diego SIMEONE’s Atletico Madrid.
It appears as though Internazionale are set to sign one of Javier PASTORE or Joaquin CORREA.
Per a report by Sky Sport, one of the two Argentinians could still be joining the Italian club. Should Joaquin CORREA be the one to join the Italian giants, Inter have reportedly offered Marcelo BROZOVIC in exchange for the Sevilla player. Per a separate report, AS Roma are interested in signing CORREA.
Regarding PASTORE, the Argentina has been rumored to leave Paris for some time now, with media speculation intesifying in this transfer window. Inter remain the sole club in the news which is constantly being linked to PSG’s former number 10. Apparently, Internazionale are hoping that PSG would accept a loan move for PASTORE.
AS Monaco have reportedly agreed to sell striker Gudio CARRILLO. The former Estudiantes man will leave Monaco for £19.2 million (€22 million). While the deal has not yet been finalized, all is expected to be done before the end of the transfer window. While the club has no Argentinian players, they are managed by an Argentinian with Mauricio PELLEGRINO (who coached Estudiantes when CARRILLO was there) at the helm.

The player first joined Monaco from Estudiantes in 2015 and has netted 15 times in 65 league appearances.

There were two more Argentinians who scored in Spain on the weekend. Beginning with Jonathan CALLERI, the former Boca Juniors and West Ham man scored for Las Palmas in a 2-1 win against Valencia. CALLERI’s goal came from the spot which ended up being the winning goal.
Still in La Liga, Franco VAZQUEZ scored for Sevilla (who had an Argentinian score for them on Tuesday) in their 3-0 demolition of Espanyol.
Shifting over to Tuesday, Ever BANEGA had a stellar performance in the Copa del Rey against Atletico Madrid. The Sevilla man scored a penalty for the home team in their 3-1 win (5-2 aggregate) against Atletico.
Moving over to England and the League Cup, Sergio AGUERO scored the goal that took Manchester City to Wembley as City picked up a 3-2 win (5-3 aggregate) against Bristol City. This is AGUERO’s fourth goal of the week after having scored three goals on the weekend.
