The Ignacio “Nacho” PIATTI show for the Impact in MLS

Ignacio PIATTI ran the show for the Montreal Impact in their match on Saturday against the Washington Sounders.

A goal, an assist and a string of dazzling runs by the former San Lorenzo man was enough for MLS’ official Twitter account to brand it as “The Nacho PIATTI show”. PIATTI assisted the first goal and scored the second as Montreal blew a 2-0 lead as the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

There were rumors a few months ago that the Montreal man was on Argentina National Team coach Edgardo BAUZA’s radar.

Argentinazionale performance from Inter!

Internazionale were in full blown Argentine mode after demolishing Atalanta 7-1!

Mauro ICARDI may not be good enough to earn a call up by Edgardo BAUZA for Argentina, scored a hat-trick within 9 minutes starting from the 17th minute to give Inter a comfortable 3-0 lead. It was the Argentine show in Milan earlier today with Mauro ICARDI scoring a 9 minute hattrick which was followed by fellow Argentine Ever BANEGA adding his own hattrick to the match. The Inter captain scored in the 17th, 23rd and 26th minute. Meanwhile, Ever BANEGA scored in the 31st, 34th and 68th minute.

ICARDI scored three different types of goals. The first, a poachers finish. The second, a panenka penalty and the third a header. As for BANEGA, the first two were very similar as they were strikes from inside the area while the third was a free kick.

Cristian ANSALDI was in the starting line up for Inter. Meanwhile Atalanta had Alejandro GOMEZ in their line up but he was having an off day.

For their part, both ICARDI and BANEGA will each get their own match ball, how amazing is that!

Possible new look for Mundo, please vote

Hi everyone,

Last year we made a big change on Mundo by altering the look of the website. While the change of design wasn’t too drastic, it was a much needed change. However, the look you see at the moment was not one that we had initially planned to keep for this long.

In the past few days, we’ve been looking at possibly changing the design here on Mundo. But a fairly big change in the design and not merely changing the colors. This design would allow us to possibly separate the news into different sections on the main page (a section for club goals, latest National Team news, U20 World Cup).

However, you the readers are just as much a part of Mundo as we are. This place would not exist if it weren’t for your continous support. I’ve always said that Mundo is like a little worldwide family (and as is the case with every family, there are some people that don’t always get along! Haha).

The point of this is to know if you guys would like to see a change in design and functionality of the website. Please, leave a comment below simply stating if you would like to see a change or not. And if you want to go more into details, mention that too.

Thank you,

Roy

Velez Sarsfield get a 3-2 victory over Estudiantes in Argentine Primera

Velez Sarsfield picked up a 3-2 win against Estudiantes.

In what was an absolute “will they or won’t they play” scenario, the Argentine Primera was back and we were treated to a match which produced 5 goals on Thursday. Mariano PAVONE was the author of two goals (the opening one and match winner) with Diego ZABALA scoring the the other one for Velez.

Esteban CAMBIASSO and Federico FAZIO score in Europa League

Esteban CAMBIASSO and Federico FAZIO were the two Argentine goalscorers in the Europa League this week.

Inter legend Esteban CAMBIASSO is still going strong. At 36 years old, CAMBIASSO is still netting them in. CAMBIASSO scored for Olympiakos in their 1-1 draw against Besiktas. The treble winner headed in from inside the area to give his team the early lead in the 36th minute.

Federico Fazio AS Roma
Federico Fazio of AS Roma celebrates his Europa League goal against Besiktas.

Federico FAZIO scored for AS Roma in what was an absolute mad match against Lyon in their 4-2 loss. FAZIO’s goal, similar to CAMBIASSO’s, was a header from inside the area.

One has to wonder if Argentina National Team coach Edgardo BAUZA was watching FAZIO, especially after his recent comments of him possibly playing for the Italian National Team.
