Andres D’ALESSANDRO, LOPEZ, more come back

0

A number of Argentinian players have made the trip back home to play in the domestic league.

Andres D’ALESSANDRO is arguably the biggest name to come back to Argentina as he has joined River Plate. He had a great career in Brazil with Internacional de Porto Alegre where his crowning moment was winning the Copa Libertadores with the Brazilian club.

Another one to return is Lisandro LOPEZ who comes back to his beloved Racing Club. LOPEZ made a name for himself in Europe, most notably in Portugal with FC Porto and in France with Lyon.

Another number 9 to come back is German DENIS, who spent the last few years flying under the radar as he scored goals for Atalanta in Serie A. He returns to former club Independiente.

Marcos ANGELERI, who was capped a few times by Diego MARADONA for Argentina has come back to Argentina, this time joining San Lorenzo.

Tata MARTINO on MESSI, HIGUAIN and more

0

Gerardo MARTINO spoke to the media and commented on Lionel MESSI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Mauro ICARDI and Carlos TEVEZ. Here’s what he had to say:

On Lionel MESSI and the Olympics:
“MESSI won’t go to the Olympic games because there’s a lot of tournaments for the National Team during the year. We have the Copa America, the Olympics and after that three World Cup Qualifying matches. The way things are for Barcelona, it’s going to be a long season“.

About Gonzalo HIGUAIN:
“HIGUAIN’s situation is almost a personal one. I hope everything goes well for him”.

Regarding Mauro ICARDI and the Olympics:
“We have DYBALA, VIETTO and CALLERI, we can’t go with three 9’s but it’s good to have choices. In ICARDI’s case, it’s not the best time”.

About Carlos TEVEZ and the National Team:
“In TEVEZ’s case, nothing has changed. He remains a player of the National Team”.

0

Argentina will have a new shirt for the upcoming Copa America.

That’s 3 years in a row that the National Team will have a change of kits. One for the 2014 World Cup, the other for 2015 Copa America and another for the upcoming Copa America. It remains to be seen if the team will wear the new shirt prior to the Copa America.

Argentina’s upcoming World Cup Qualifying matches

Argentina’s next two World Cup Qualifying matches come in March against two very familiar teams.

The Albiceleste play against Chile on March 24 in Santiago. The match will take place at 8:30pm local time. Jorge SAMPAOLI, the Argentinian who lead Chile to their first ever trophy at last year’s Copa America has stepped down and Chile will have a new coach.

On March 29, Gerardo MARTINO’s men will play Bolivia in Argentina. However, there are rumors that the match will take place in Cordoba at the Mario Kempes stadium and not at the Monumental. While that isn’t confirmed, there have been rumors in the past of the National Team playing outside of Buenos Aires.
