Sony Pictures Television and Sony Music Vision have unveiled “Messi and the Giants,” a new sci-fi animated series inspired by Lionel Messi and targeted for kids. Disney Branded Television has acquired the series, which will premiere on Disney Channel and Disney Channel On Demand before becoming available globally on Disney+.

The story follows Leo, a 12-year-old boy transported from Argentina to an alternate universe where he must lead a fight against the Giants, villains controlling the 10 realms of Iko. Each 22-minute episode explores universal themes of teamwork, perseverance, and determination, delivering a coming-of-age journey for young viewers.

Lionel Messi expressed his excitement for the series, stating:

“I always dreamed of being involved in a project that would share the values of sports, the very same values that have been so important to my career, with younger generations. Nothing truly is impossible with teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and hard work. I look forward to sharing this series with kids around the world, and I hope I will inspire them and motivate them to achieve their own dreams.
