Alexis Mac Allister has spoken about the Finalissima not taking place.

Mac Allister has been called up to the Argentina national team for the two matches against Mauritania and Zambia. Argentina were initially set to play against Spain in the Finalissima but that match is not taking place. Mac Allister is in Argentina for the two matches and spoke to ESPN Argentina about the Finalissima. Here is what he had to say:

“It’s a shame because it would have been a nice match. It wasn’t to be, now we will focus on the friendly matches.”

The Argentine also commented on Claudio Tapia’s comments about the team being champions as Spain refused to play the match:

“The matches are won on the pitch, we are players and we want to win. I would like to play it in the future, we all would like to play it.”

Nicolás Otamendi says this World Cup is his last with Argentina

Nicolás Otamendi has stated that this World Cup will be his last with the Argentina national team.

Otamendi has played in three World Cups with the Argentina national team and the 2026 World Cup will be his last one. Winner of the 2022 World Cup with Argentina, Otamendi has played 129 matches with Argentina, 14 of them at the World Cup. Speaking in an interview with ESPN Argentina, here is what Otamendi had to say:

“A cycle is being closed with the national team, it is my last World Cup.

“It is a beautiful tournament and I have had the chance to play many, it is the most important trophy a player can win. Everything restarts, we will continue to compete in the same way, we are defending the trophy.”

The 38 year old also spoke about the Finalissima match:

“It wouls have a been a nice match to play, unfortunately it didn’t happen. But we have two matches, to prepare and go back together.”

Argentina national team players arrive, will train on Tuesday

Argentina national team players have started arriving to training camp with the first training set for Tuesday.

Lionel Scaloni’s team have started to arrive in Argentina and Scsloni has given the players a day off on Monday. The Argentina national team will play Mauritania on Friday at La Bombonera and will be training on Tuesday, with the time not yet confirmed.

The team will train on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, with Lionel Scaloni speaking at a press conference on Thursday.

Joaquín Panichelli scored twice for Strasbourg in their 3-2 win against Nantes.

Panichelli made it 20 goals with Strasbourg, scoring twice in their win. With Nantes leading 1-0, the ball fell to Panichelli inside the penalty area and he would score from close range to draw Strasbourg level.

With the score at 2-2, Strasbourg were awarded a free kick in injury time. The initial effort on goal was saved but the Argentine would get to the rebound and score to give Strasbourg the 3-2 lead.

Valentín Barco also started the match for Strasbourg while Panichelli was substituted into the match.

Nahuel Molina scored for Atletico Madrid in their 3-2 loss against Real Madrid.

Molina made it two goals in two matches for Atletico Madrid, scoring in Atletico’s loss. With the score at 2-1, Molina’s effort from outside of the penalty area beat the goalkeeper to draw Atletico level.

Real Madrid would score one more and get the win. Juan Musso, Giuliano Simeone and Julián Álvarez also started the match with Nicolás González being substituted into the match.
