Racing Club has added another international title to its history after defeating Botafogo 4-0 on aggregate to claim the Recopa Sudamericana. With a commanding 2-0 victory in Brazil, thanks to goals from Matías Zaracho and Bruno Zuculini, La Academia secured their first-ever Recopa, building on the two-goal advantage they had earned in Avellaneda.
The 2024 Copa Sudamericana champions outclassed the 2024 Copa Libertadores winners, proving their continental strength with a dominant performance over both legs. This victory marks a historic achievement for Racing Club and its president, Diego Milito, who has now become the first person ever to win a major title with the same club as a player, as a manager, and as a president.
With this triumph, Racing joins the list of Argentine teams to have lifted the Recopa Sudamericana. Boca Juniors, with four titles, and River Plate, with three, remain the most successful clubs in the competition’s history.
