No injury to Enzo Fernández, will play for Chelsea vs. Manchester City

Enzo Fernández is not injured and will play for Chelsea against Manchester City.

Fernández asked to be substituted out for Chelsea in their 4-1 win vs. Tottenham Hotspur and while that made many fear that he could be injured, the 22 year old will be fit for Chelsea’s next game.

Cristian Romero tackled Enzo in Monday’s Premier League match but that was not the reason he asked to be substituted. He had discomfort in his right ankle.

The World Cup winner will be fit for Argentina’s two World Cup qualifying matches against Uruguay and Brazil this month.

Cristian Romero tackled Enzo Fernández getting red carded and Enzo asking to get substituted.

Romero was having a good match for Tottenham as they even took the lead against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea. The entire match had many incidents but this one in particular involved Argentina fans.

The 25 year old went for the ball inside his own penalty area but with the ball also close to Enzo’s feet, Romero would end up sliding onto Enzo’s ankle. The referee would go to VAR and the decision was a red card.

Enzo would continue the match but 11 minutes into the second half, he would ask to be substituted. He did not require a stretcher and walked on his own but with Argentina playing two World Cup qualifying matches this month, Lionel Scaloni, his coaching staff and Argentina fans will be awaiting the news on his status.

The match would prove to be a memorable one with four goals disallowed. Chelsea would score on the penalty given by Romero and Tottenham would get another record card as Chelsea would get the 4-1 win.

Thiago Almada has been named the MLS Young Player of the Year.

Almada continues to win individual awards. After being named the 2022 MLS Newcomer of the Year, the 22 year old has also won the 2023 Young Player of the Year award.

The World Cup winner has 11 goals and 19 assists while also being named MLS Player of the Month for March and being included in the 2023 MLS All-Star team.

Lautaro Martínez scored and has made it 12 goals in 11 matches with Inter this season.

Martínez continues his goal scoring form as he now has seven goals in his last five league matches. With Inter leading 1-0 vs. Atalanta, Lautaro received the ball to the right of the goalkeeper inside the penalty area and the Argentine would curl one into the side of the goal to give Inter the 2-0 lead.

Juan Musso was the starting goalkeeper for Atalanta, he has now started eight of the eleven matches for them in the league.

Copa Libertadores final, Boca Juniors against Fluminense

The Copa Libertadores final takes place on Saturday between Boca Juniors and Fluminense at the Maracana.

The final of the biggest club tournament in South America, if not the world, takes place on Saturday. Six time champions Boca Juniors against Fluminense, a club that has never lifted the trophy.

One club from Argentina against a club from Brazil. A club that has players which have represented Argentina at national team level like Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and even Dario Benedetto with an Uruguayan superstar in Edinson Cavani.

Germán Cano is the only Argentine with Fluminense but the Argentine has 12 goals in 11 matches in this year’s Copa Libertadores. The 35 year old will want to score in the final.

Boca Juniors eliminated Nacional of Uruguay in the Round of 16 on penalty kicks, eliminated Racing in the quarter finals on penalty kicks and advanced to the final by beating Palmeiras on penalty kicks. Sergio Romero made penalty saves in all three of the shootouts and Marcos Rojo is suspended after being red carded against Palmeiras.

Fluminense eliminated Argentinos Juniors of Argentina in the Round of 16, Olimpia of Paraguay in the quarter finals and Internacional of Brazil in the semi finals.
