Valentín Castellanos scores for West Ham in 3-1 loss vs. Newcastle United

Taty Castellanos scored for West Ham in their 3-1 loss against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park, but the result left the club close to relegation from the Premier League.

The Argentine forward scored West Ham’s only goal with a strike from outside the box that found the top corner. It was Castellanos’ sixth goal in 21 Premier League matches this season.

With the loss, West Ham remain in 18th place with 36 points, two behind Tottenham, who occupy the last safe spot in the table. Cristian Romero’s Tottenham still have a match in hand and could secure Premier League safety with a win against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Even a draw could leave Tottenham in a strong position because of their much better goal difference compared to West Ham. With only one matchday left after that, West Ham are now close to relegation.
