Lionel Scaloni has won The Best FIFA Men’s Coach award.

Scaloni has added his first individual award as coach to his name. Coach of the Argentina national team, Scaloni won the Finalissima and the FIFA World Cup in 2022 and he was named as The Best FIFA Men’s Coach over Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti.

The 44 year old was the youngest coach at the World Cup as he coached his team to wins against the most experienced coach in Louis van Gaal and at the time, reigning World Cup winning coach Didier Deschamps.

Emiliano Dibu Martínez has won The Best FIFA Men’s goalkeeper award.

Dibu Martínez had a tremendous 2002 and his 2023 has started off with a reward. The Argentine goalkeeper won the Finalissima with the national team and was one of the hero’s as the Argentina national team won the World Cup.

Martínez was named as the Goalkeeper of the Tournament in Qatar and now, the best goalkeeper in the world. Martínez beat out both Thibaut Courtois of Belgium and Real Madrid as well as Yassine Bounou of Sevilla and Morocco.

Argentina to play Panama and Curaçao in March friendly matches

The Argentina national team will play Panama and Curaçao in March.

AFA president Claudio Tapia has confirmed that the World Cup champions will play two matches in March. The first will be against Panama on March 23 at the Monumental stadium in Buenos Aires.

Argentina’s second match will be against Curaçao on March 26 at the Mario Kempes stadium in Córdoba. The announcement comes minutes after Lionel Scaloni’s contract renewal.

Lionel Scaloni has officially renews his contract and will remain with the Argentina national team.

Scaloni has put pen to paper and his renewal is official. Both the AFA and AFA president Chiqui Tapia confirmed on social media that Scaloni has renewed until 2026.

The 44 year old is the only Argentine to win both the Copa America and the World Cup trophy. He also holds the Argentine national team record of 36 undefeated matches.

He is presently nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach of the year award.

Three Argentine’s are nominated for The Best FIFA awards as the Real Madrid trio are set to miss out.

Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martínez and Lionel Scaloni are nominated for three awards and three of their counterparts will not be attending the ceremony.

Messi is nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Player along with Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. According to Marca in Spain, Benzema will not be attending the awards.

Emiliano Martínez is nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper award with both Yassine Bounou and Thibaut Courtois. And just like his Real Madrid team mate Karim Benzema, Courtois will not be in attendance.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni is a finalist for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, with Pep Guardiola of Manchester City and Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid nominated. And just like his two players, Ancelotti will not be attending.

This has fueled rumors that the Real Madrid players and coach will not be winning awards. Argentina are also nominated for the FIFA Fan award.
