Diego SIMEONE’s Atletico Madrid lifted the UEFA Super Cup by winning 4-2 against Real Madrid.

With SIMEONE suspended, it was assistant German BURGOS who was on the touch line and it didn’t matter because for the second time in the past decade, Atletico lifted the UEFA Super Cup. Taking a very early 1-0 lead in the first minute through Diego COSTA, the reigning Champions League holders drew level through Karim BENZEMA.

Madrid were awarded a penalty in the second half and captain Sergio RAMOS converted the spot kick to give his team a 2-1 lead. Angel CORREA came on as a substitute and made an impact. He had a brilliant run which ended up as an assist for Diego COSTA’s second goal to make it 2-2 and force extra time.

Saul NIGUEZ and KOKE would each score during extra time to secure the victory.

Congratulations to Diego SIMEONE, German BURGOS and Atletico Madrid!

  1. German BURGOS – Simeone is one hell of an intimidating combo. Dybala – Icardi – Angel Correa these 3 should be the guys who has to carry the baton moving forward for our NT they have enough experience in Europe too. I think Angel Correa is still not performing up to the level of talent he has. He has to unleash his talent.
