      • Yeah sadly this was Dominguez’s worst game this season, but if scaloni is gonna judge him on one game and ignore the fact that Nico’s been amazing since the beginning of last season then Scaloni is an idiot and i don’t think he’s an idiot.
Dominguez, Angleri and Barboza must be in the NT.

        • What make me happy is that
          Gaby heinze and beccacece
          Re playing nice attacking football
          Which matchs on European
          Stly of play..for me
Gaby heinze is future manager of Argentina..

          • Yeah it’s remarkable how well Beccacece’s been doing with Defensa especially when you consider that he was Sampaoli’s assistant coach in the WC. Says alot about Sampa’s incompetence.

        • You are right, Mamoun. Despite the game, Dominguez deserves the call up, no doubt. He has a lot of potentiall to work with.
          Barboza, Angileri as well.

  1. grrrrrrrrrrr the injury curse strikes once again but as they say one door closes another opens and this will allow some one else their chance to see if they have the goods but in saying that its very frustrating to have this happen to our n/t so ofturn and at a time of many changes that are both happening and are needed to happen.

  2. Sad news for Battaglia. With the nature of this injury (similar to lanzini) looks like he will be out of Copa as well. Feel bad because he was one of the guys i was quite sure was earmarked for the 23.

  3. I’m guessing tgat between them Messi, Aguero and Higuain must have a combined tally of almost 1,000 goals. For Argentina however the 3 of them have a combined tally of 1 goal scored in the knockout stage of a world cup.

      • Messi (128 caps=65 goals) 0.51 goal per match
Aguero (89 caps =39 goals) 0.44 goals per match
Higuain (75 caps = 31 goals) 0.41 goals per match

Average caps among 3 of them (97 caps)
Average goals among 3 of them 0.46 per match
Of course, none of them played the full 90 minutes every match.
on the other hand, there is a player I don’t like to say his name, but people always describe him as a scoring machine, He played 154 games for Portugal and scored 85 goals, he has an average of 0.55 goals per match which is not that big of a difference.

If @leon12 want them to score 1000 goals among 3 of them then they would have to score 10.3 average goals per match.

I think it’s doable, only IF THEY PLAY BASKETBALL NOT FOOTBALL.

  4. Watched highlights of Nantes-Guingamp, Sala is really that kind of old-school forward, a pure product from French training center: very disciplined tactically, strong in aerial duel, always here to fight against the opposite center backs. We don’t have that kind of forward, could be interesting to have him as sub. When things don’t go well and you are running out of time, you send this guy for corners or long ball, could be very useful.

I didn’t see the full game of Betis but Lo Celso’s assist on the 1st goal was a true delight.

    • he isn’t younger plus performing in farmer league not criteria to judge, Dimaria at Real and Real at PSG is the best example. Aguero and Icardi will be our striker if any third one need 23rd squad then it will be Martinez

    • Sala is blooming late. Couldn’t deliver at Bordeaux, often loaned out to lower divisions. He established himself last season with 9 goals and this season he already has 10. Nantes being a popular club, he is slowly gaining attention.
Surely a great option to consider for Scaloni. He should leave no stone unturned when it comes to player sourcing and selection.

  5. I’m sick of that: everytime when some player is giving us good impressions in NT he is out for the next game because of injury or other reasons . This is the case of Palacios, Pity Martinez and now might happen to Saravia as well. He and Zaracho are also in doubts. Both were subbed in first half yesterday’s Racing win against Newell’s.

The best choice instead of Saravia could be (with Montiel rested for Superclasico) Leonardo Godoy from Talleres. He is on Valancia radar as well as Saravia and Montiel. And had really good performance yesterday. I had watched.

Zaracho? If he will be out and with Scaloni opening the NT doors wide to ’97-98 category players he may call up Vargas again, together with Dominguez. I think such pairs of players from one club is good idea for several reasons, just like with Palacios-Pity case.

Another outstanding player of the category on Zaracho’s position is AM Alexis MacAllister (’98) from Argentinos Juniors. Though he will not be there for sure because of injury. Lucas Robertone from Velez another option (’97). Almendra is growing quickly in Boca. Good game in last weekend.

Though if I could choose one in Zaracho place in the same category it would be Juan Brunetta from Belgrano.

    • The team is cursed with injuries. These sad reports always come out whenever tournaments or friendlies knock at the door and the coach is preparing his tactics.

Anyways, if Battaglia is out I would like to see either Dominguez or Caseres replace Battaglia.

Although Saravia has played a hanful of games and needs to play more to cement his place in the NT for the years to come, he seems irreplaceable. I hope he gets well in time.

    • Otherwise why not Bustos as a right midfielder in a 352 or 3421? Except Saravia who is reliable defensively, most of our fullbacks are offensive oriented. I would use him and Cervi on each side of the midfield. Cervi is a natural winger and very hard-working too, better than Acuna on the crossing and probably one of the best in free-kick or corner kick. Could be interesting to try.

    • Not much worried about battaglia worst CM have ever seen for argentina NT, golden generation of argentina is over, no hope with this team , still ascasibar, caseres> batagllia.

    • No Zaracho?…..No big loss IMO, there are better players in the primera in his position. Gonzalo you mention Mac Allister and I agree with you, he could potentially be a world beater if he develops properly and things go right for him (that’s alot of IFs). He’s a combination of a 5 and a 10, something I’ve never seen before so I have may eyes on him, infact he’s the only reason why I watch Argentinos Jrs at all.

Saravia being possibly out is too bad because I’d like to see whether he’s the real deal or just a one match wonder like Meza. With that being said there are Abecasis and Mammana who could get a shot at the RB position so Scaloni isn’t empty on options.

  7. With Battaglia out most probabale is Nicolas Domiguez will got the call up if only willdo well today against Defensa y Justicia.

  8. Aguero became the thrid man to notch 150 goals for a single club, behind Rooney and Henry…
yet the premier league drools over Harry Kane?
What a joke! Talents like Aguero, David Silva, Hazard, or any amazing player in the Premier League doesn’t get the credit they deserve unless they’re either English or playing for either Liverpool or Tottenham.

Aguero is the best striker in the Premier League.
Messi is the best in La Liga (and the world!)
Dybala is unfortunately now the second best in Serie A behind Ronaldo. Icardi is good, but not as good as Insigne, Immobile, so he’s not the best in Serie A.

The best in each top league, playing together…. mouthwatering!

    • My lineup with that in mind would be such:
      Romero
      Saravia-Pezzella-Otamendi-Tagliafico
      Banega-Paredes-Lanzini
      Dybala-Messi-Aguero

Messi would drop to strengthen a midfield that is not as creative as say Brazil’s or Colombia’s, a move that Tuchel has done for PSG having Neymar as a #10 and Valveerde with Barcelona having Messi in a”free role”.
      – Aguero would then tuck in to be the CF, with Tagliafico providing the width, along with providing constant overlapping runs that will be hard for and RB to cover, such as Jordi Alba is doing with Barcelona, having no real LF to be in the way.

Therefore, the formation would switch as such IN POSESSION:
      Romero
      Saravia-Pezella-Otamendi
      Paredes
      Banega-Lanzini
      Messi
      Dybala-Aguero-Tagliafico

Having Argentina in a 4-4-2 won’t be that effective, seeing the defense will only have to worry about Messi and Aguero, they’ll be surrounded and disposed as quick as possible. They NEED to play in a 4-3-3, and keep a midfield diamond to rotate the ball easier, having always a player open.

      Vamos Argentina!!!!!!

      • Love it although I hate to say it since I’m a massive fan, I’m doubting Dybala. lamela and Lo Celso works but maybe Pavon or pity…

Also missing true DM like Batta
        anD Aascacibar

    • Good stuff, was 10 years ago already. True, he should have his hair cut, same for Cannigia, the 98 team with both of them would have been fantastic. Almeyda, Simeone or Makelele(even though the French was one of the best DM in early 2000s) were not comparable to Redondo’s natural class. He is also the prototype of the modern DM, has huge influence in this holding midfielder position.

    • Aguero level has been raised by pep ….2-3 years ago I always thought higuain as better than aguero for argentina…..but ryt now aguero is our best no.9……but still I want icardi to be first choice

      • higuain was better when playing at Real Madrid after that higuain wasn’t top 5 striker where Aguero was and still top3 striker in the world, higuain selection on Argentina NT specially 2016-2018 period disaster, higuain miss clear chance in 2014,2015,2016 finals still i was supported but after that higuain passed his best days still selected along with Mache, biglia were Disaster for Argentina. For copa 2019 either Aguero or Icardi our no9 depending on form
