Lisandro Martinez scored a header, the third of the match for Ajax in their 3-0 win vs. RKC Waalwijk.

With fellow Argentine Nicolas Tagliafico out due to suspension, it was Lisandro Martinez who started at left back for Ajax. With the team winning 2-0, Lisandro found himself inside the penalty area and a well placed header beat the goalkeeper for the third goal.

Martinez has not been included in Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni’s squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

  1. Paredes height is 1.80m and lisandro martinez height is 1.78. So.i don’t understand why everyone tell it that scaloni do n’t call him bcz of height issue

  2. Balerdi on bench. I did not follow him on Boca but what I saw in Europe did not impress me one bit. Just looks like a fish out of water. Very raw and unimposing.

Martinez and Senesi both deserve callup ahead of him.

    • He looked very promising during his short time in Boca senior team. “Youth developer” Dortmund saw this early, bought him, played him as substitute DMF a few times after half a season on the bench, and started him once as LCB (in 3-man backline opposed to 4-man that he always played) just after Bayern won Bundesliga and the whole team had 0 motivation and lost 0-4… And then sold him to Marseille. Such a shame, his Dortmund story was a wrong move and confidence killer. Really wish he would have stayed for at least another season in Boca before going to Europe. Definitely has potential to become great but he needs to find his form in OM.

    • Including Balerdi and Foyth also conflicts with the perceived idea that Scaloni requires players to be inform and playing regularly. I mean, El Chiquito Romero played more than these 2 last season.

Perhaps theres another motive because form and minutes aint it.

I’m beginning to think theres a marketing angle here. Perhaps Scaloni / AFA calling “talented” bench players to bring attention to lurking clubs. Senesi and Lisandro playing regularly so perhaps they do not need the additional exposure in the short run.
