Lionel Messi scored for FC Barcelona in their 2-0 win vs. Sevilla.
Messi continues to extend his lead in the Pichichi race as he scored goal number 19 of the season. With Barcelona leadind 1-0, Messi would receive the ball on the edge of the penalty area, dribble in and while his initialy shot would be saved by the goalkeeper, he would get to his own rebound and score.
He has now scored 38 goals and has 19 assists in 42 games vs. Sevilla.
.
Emiliano Martinez is so far statistically the best league goalkeeper in England this season and top 2 in Europe.
13 clean sheets in 24 matches (54%)
78% save rate
3.83 saves per match

54 shots faced – 44 saves – 10 conceded
Only Navas has a higher save rate percentage (+3%) in Europe. Only Navas and Ederson have a higher clean sheet percentage – however, Emi has faced more shots in 24 games than both of them combined in 45.
Nobody on this list even comes close to Emi’s average of 3.83 saves per match (with a 78% save rate!)
This is an absolute top world class goalkeeper we have here. He will play for a top team this year or next.
He showed twice in the past year that he can enter a team as #1 and have an immediate impact, improving his defenders and bring confidence to the goal. He can do it for Argentina too, even against Uruguay and Brazil.
If we don’t use him before or during Copa, it would reflect horribly on Scaloni if we lose the tournament with one of the world’s best goalkeepers on the bench. He would lose all possible credibility one year before the World Cup. I am sure he is not that stupid.
Very good stats. It’s also important to remember that Emi does this with a back line of Mings and Konsa, not world class defenders like the other teams.

Goodness. Thx for compilings.
Those Stats are quite impressive and it gets even better given Olive_Ms point about the quality of his teammates.
When is Scaloni expected to release call ups?
Emi Martinez is not available for march Qualifiers as Aston Villa did not grant him permission to go as 10 days quartine is necessary.
Im so excited about Buendia performance after Wycombe game, what a creative player, plus hardworker, good defensively, great without the ball to attack free spaces, no brainer call in. Assist plus pre-assist again. If not now without Dybala, Lo Celso, Ocampos, Nico Gonzalez, Di Maria, with out of form Papu then when? His passing is top notch in every match. youtube.com/watch?v=ls7HPYvHGeY
Oh yeah Buendia is a freak of nature, honestly without exaggeration he’s Argentina’s second best player (guess whose first 😉 ) right now. He needs to be called up ASAP.
Btw Csabalala do you know how long Maria is out for? I thought it was just a few weeks, is there a chance he could miss the WCQ?

De Paul, Molina & Musso vs Pezzella & Quarta starting soon.
Romero with another good game
Walter Samuel is in the stands, watching out boys on behalf of the coaching team…
Messi seems ready for the qualifiers. However, many of our regular call ups are injured or lack fitness and form. Dybala, Aguero, Di Maria, LoCelso, Tagliafico, Acuna, Palacios, Ocampos etc.
It will take some improvisation from the coach. Unfortunately we have a very inexperienced coach who has yet to make mistakes a more experienced coach has already made and learnt from.
Christian Romero, Lisandro Martinez will face tough opponents in an experimental line-up.
What’s wrong with Tagliafico? Is it a hip injury and/or COVID – 19? Things are just going from bad to worse….
Eye problems
Really? Eye problems? I noticed that he was wearing weird glasses in his matches. I didn’t look further into it but it did surprise me. I also noticed that blind (ironic) started as a left back in a recent game and Tagliafico wasn’t even on the bench. What kind of eye problems does he have exactly?

Papu Gomez doesnt find his place in Sevilla, not even half the player in Atalanta was, where the whole system was built around him. Needs to improve drastically, now we are better younger options than him. Scaloni must to call rather Buendia instead of Papu. He is 33 yeard old, the only older players we need are Messi, Aguero as super sub and Otamendi.
Agreed Csabalala. Buendia would be so useful.
Papu might take time to get used to playing in Sevilla where they tend to play 4-3-3 (but not always) but age is not on his side. Still a talented player with enough motivation should be able to adapt.
Happy for Messi he is back in his form if Argentina defence remains discipline Argentina going to beat both Uruguay and Brazil. New CBs are looking good they also deserve some minutes. C. Romero, Foyth,LMQ and Medina looks good.
In march messi vs sevilla , osasuna , psg , huesca , sociedad , uruguay , brazil …..really challenging month for goat 💙
