The Argentina starting eleven is out with Lionel Messi, Lautaro Martinez and Angel Di Maria starting up front.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has his starting eleven and with the only doubt being between Nahuel Molina and Gonzalo Montiel, it’s Molina who gets the start. Marcos Acuña starts in place of Nicolas Tagliafico with Angel Di Maria back in the eleven with Nicolas Gonzalez on the bench. Here is the starting eleven:

Emiliano Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuña; De Paul, Paredes, Lo Celso; Di Maria, Lautaro Martinez, Messi

  1. We wasted quite a lot of chances today! Le Celso would have shot the chance in the box. Di Maria wasted a few easy chances today. He had an off game. Di Maria is best for the team attacking us not the other way round. But don’t worry too much. On a good day, Di Maria will score a goal among those chances. I don’t see Nico score goals, his passing is subpar too, but he has energy of a young Di Maria, likely a better player overall against a defense team.

Referee didn’t help us either. At the end, he gave Peru one min to play another corner but once we got a free kick, he stopped the game right away.

  2. We won and get 3 points. Papu Gomez should have been given a chance especially in the second half after the team looks exhausted and satisfy with 1-0 leading. Palacios also need more time time to play.

Overall a good game by Albiceleste, the result proved it !!

  3. Lautaro is approaching 20 goals in just 3 years and has scored 10 goals in competitive games.

Haters, you can play FIFA and put Foyth as your foward to score.

  4. This DiMaria on the left-wing never works really. His crosses from the left aren’t good enough. But it seems they are intentionally attacking from the left wing more often with DiMaria. So maybe it’s a strategic decision. Playing Dimaria on the right side and constatntly overlapping with Messi wouldn’t work either I think, since the Peruvians are jamming the midfield area and both Messi and Dimaria tend to go inside. So, in a way, it makes sense. I wonder whether Nico instead of ADM would have helped more.

    • its funny how every half a dozen games or so every coach falls again and again for the seduction of di maria deep on the left wing. I almost find it comedic lol.
even funnier when you just recently literally won a tournament doing the opposite of that.

  5. Good first half, Peru was lucky the goal didn’t come earlier.
Di Maria is forever a hero but he has off games and even when he is good he has many off moments.

  6. Kevin, Lautaro scores a header assisted by a real attacking fullback Molina. Not a real right back Foyth not on the bench again.

Lautaro is weak in the air my a$#!:

    • EnganChe He misses many chances, against Uruguay we have seen that against top defence he lacks finishing. Alario Icardi and Aguero takes better header. You are obsessed with Lautaro see his performance in Champion League. Lautaro is good player but not puer no. 9.
Against Uruguay and Paraguay Argentina suffered in right flank all attack came from right flank.Mollina has defensive lapses but he is good player too

    • What type of plastic fan are you ? Because he is having an okay game , you consider him as garbage. But when he scored the winning Copa final you was praising him.

    • I’m assuming from the last blog on this site that yellow cards don’t get erased. If this is the case then if u receive a yellow in qualification match back in March then it carries over to the round in October. In my opinion it’s kind of stupid.

  7. All credit to our coaching staff that he can start different players for one position. It’s been lot of work behind the background and now finally working off.
