Lionel Messi to start for Argentina against Uruguay in World Cup qualifiers

Lionel Messi is set to start for Argentina against Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers.

Messi will reportedly start for Argentina with Angel Di Maria and Lautaro Martinez up front. Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni will have everyone but Leandro Paredes available for Friday’s match.

Scaloni will be able to field his strongest or nearly strongest eleven against Uruguay on Friday. Scaloni stated at a press conference that the eleven he would be fielding would be similar to that of the last match. Here is the rumored eleven:

Emiliano Martinez; Montiel, Romero, Otamendi, Acuña; De Paul, Guido, Lo Celso; Di Maria, Messi, Lautaro Martinez.

  1. I dont understand obsession of testing without Messi. Better idea would be testing different players with Messi. After WC2022, Messi wont be there. Eg. Poch at PSG is trying as people here are mentioning and they are not doing so good. You cant isolate Messi and think you are better off.

  2. Scaloni should have tried without Messi. The test has to be tested and groomed to play without dependency on the best player. Does this mean that he does not have any plan B without Messi? That is not a very good sign. These are the opportunities to prepare a team well for the main tournament.

    • Messi will be there in World CUP 2022. WE can test without Messi after WC22. It is useless to test without Messi as it means nothing. We need to play with MEssi and rather test other players with Messi. POch is testing without Messi in PSG and they are not doing so good.

  3. This is my favorite starting lineup.
I would like to see dybala come on at some point that he has time to play and get into a rhythm.
Also I would like to say that it isn’t bad if we draw against uruagay. Two reasons, one we should be able to qualify with ease even if we draw, and I’m not worried about fifa standings…. They always find a way to put us into a tough group. And the 2nd reason is that I want Uruguay to qualify for the cup.
