Ezequiel Barco is set to join River Plate on loan for one year.

Barco is returning back to Argentina, this time to River Plate as the 22 year old would join on a year long loan with an option to buy. According to Merlo, he will join River Plate after rejecting offers from both Flamengo and Inter in Brazil.

The Argentine joined Atlanta United back in 2018 from Independiente for a reported fee of $15 million. Since joining them, he has managed 17 goals and 17 assists in 81 regular season matches. Despite being linked a few times with a move to Europe, Barco is going to be managed by Marcelo Gallardo in Argentina.

  1. Papu and A.Correa were on fire today! Papu is finally getting back to his old Atlanta form!! Competition for starting eleven for almost every position in the national team is quite fierce now! Even the players not in the squad are putting extreme pressure from outside. After 2010, we finally have overabundance of competitive players at every position. If these players can maintain their current form for the remaining of the year and GOAT regains his regular form then we will be a team to beat in the World cup!

  2. Should have gone to Europe anyway River move might secure World Cup spot so not a bad move either, I always rate Barco higher than Dimaria/Ocumpos. I hope Barco gets call up in March qualifier and Micaela Romero watcha from stands
