Argentina national team holding open training session on Monday in Abu Dhabi

The Argentina national team will be holding an open training session on Monday in Abu Dhabi.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has 12 and will soon be 15 players with him in the United Arab Emirates. As the team is slowly arriving for the 2022 World Cup, they will hold an open training session on Monday.

It will take place at Al Nahyan stadium with tickets sold out. Aref Al Awani, the General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Sports Council had this to say with quotes courtesy of ArabianBusiness:

“We know how important a World Cup is to many countries, especially a country like Argentina, so we are honoured that Argentina has entrusted Abu Dhabi to host the final preparations.”

They have recently entered a partnership with the AFA. On Wednesday, November 16, the team will play the United Arab Emirates at Abu Dhabi’s Mohamed bin Zayed stadium.

  1. Expecting no slip ups from us in group stage, But France group performance is gonna be extremly important for us just hope that we dont clash with them in next round. We cant avoid big teams at the world, but still its better we meet the big teams from quarter finals onwards.

2014 was really lucky for us draw wise. The world cups are so unperdictable.

    • 2014 we play a strong Switzerland side in 2nd round then peak Belgium in quarters thn super strong Netherlands side who was in red hot form in semis and thn the super German side in final i don’t see any favorable draw here

  2. My WC preview of our rivals:

    1. Brazil possible strongest 11:
    4-2-3-1: (alternate: 4-3-3; 4-4-2)
Allisson; Danilo, Silva, Marquinhos, Sandro; Casemiro, Fred; Raphinha, Neymar, Paqueta; Richarlison

Key bench: Militao, Telles, Vinicious Jr, Antony, Gabriel Jesus
Note: They have tweaked their fomations in their last 4 games or so, I have a feeling they try to start Vinicious Jr and Neymar together and find a way for it.

    My prediction: SF

    2. France possible strongest 11:
    3-4-3 (alternate: 4-2-3-1)
Lloris; Varane/Upamecano, Saliba, Kounde; Pavard, Hernandez, Tchouameni, Fofana; Griezmann, Mbappe, Benzema
Key bench: Areola, Konate, Camavinga, Nkunku, Giroud

Note: They keep making major changes to their starting 11 in every game. So it is hard to predict their best 11. They have played 3-4-3 in their last 2 games instead of their usual 4-2-3-1.

    My prediction: Final

    3. Germany possible strongest 11:
    4-2-3-1 (alternate: 3-4-3)
Nauer; Klostermann, Rudiger, Sule, Raum; Gundogan, Kimmich; Hofmann, Sane, Muller, Harvertz
Key bench: Ter Stegen, Schlotterbeck, Kehrer, Gnabry, Musiala

Note: Their main players are Rudiger, Sule, Raum, Gundogan, Kimmich, Muller. Others, they rotate.
    Last 5: DDWLD

    My prediction: QF

    4. Spain possible strongest 11
    4-3-4 ONLY
Simon; Carvajal, Garcia, Torres, Alba; Busquets, Gavi, Rodri; Sarabia, Torres, Morata
Key bench: Gaya, Azplicuetta, Pedri, Soler, Asensio

Note: Mostly rotate players like most other European teams. Very strong midfield, very Barca tiki taka style. The third hottest team among the European favorites.

    My prediction QF

    5. England possible strongest 11
    3-4-3 (alternate: 4-2-3-1)
Pope; Stones, Dier, Maguire; R James, Rice, Bellingham, Saka; Rashford, Sterling, Kane
Key bench: Pickford, TAA, Shaw, Mount, Foden.

Note: Because of the current losing streak, they changed to 3-4-3. Key players are James, Maguire, Rice, Sterling, Kane. Very dangerous from corner.

    My prediction QF

    6. Portugal possible strongest 11
    4-2-3-1 (alternate 4-3-3)
D Costa; Cancelo, Dias, D Perreira; Mendes; Carvalho, Neves; Bruno, CR7, Silva; Jota
Key bench: Rui Patricio, Dalot, Pepe, Vitinha, Leao.

Note: Similar to Argentina, have a lot of key players, not much rotate players unlike other European teams. Cancelo, Dias, Perreira, Neves, Carvalho, Bruno, Silva, CR7 almost always start. Leao is one of the hottest players but is not an automatic starter. CR7? Done or playing with a chip on his shoulder? Form wise the second hottest team among European favorites. Bring only 7 defenders to the WC.

    My prediction SF

    7. Netherlands possible strongest 11
    3-4-3 (Alternate 3-5-2)
Pasveer; De Ligt, Van Dijk, Ake; Dumfries (?) , Blind, Koopmeiners, De Jong; Bergwjin, Depay, Gakpo
Key bench: De Vrij, Malacia, Timber, De Roon, Lang.

Note: Very strong defense, play bigger than their actual worth. The hottest team in Europe. A lot of underrated players like Bergwjin. Midfield and upfront is questionable but play very similar to the 2014 Netherlands.

    My prediction QF

    • el_principe don’t undermine Portugal. I believe on papers Portugal has strongest squad depth especially their Fullbacks and midfielders. In the forward Diogo Jota will be a big miss for them.

    • England – Reece James is out. So mostly Trippier or Arnold as RB & Luke Shaw as LB.
Portugal – Jota is out. So mostly Felix/ Leao will be interchangeably used
I somehow feel Croatia will be there atleast till QF at expense of Germany

  3. Federico Gomes Gerth is living a dream, being part of the training squad, the kid probably thinks he’s still dreaming 🙂

    • Yes, his child was born basically within the same couple of days as the squad was released and he just came back from an injury. Then hop on a plane to the Middle East. And I think I’m tired sometimes.

  4. I saw the whole training session today. 1st foyth played as rb and Molina as lb thn Molina played as rb and foyth as lb. Because tagliafico was training alone. They practiced long distance shooting just away from penalty box with paredes, dimaria, depaul and alvarez shooting. Messi didn’t shoot. They missed 90% of shots. Specially paredes missed all his long shot attempts even alvarez missed majority of his attempts. First armani was in goal then rulli was in goal. Later lautaro, dybala, nico Gonzalez and j. Correa join the group. Messi looked very lean and little tired he trained the lowest amount of time and left early and wasn’t practicing long shots atall was sitting and watching others shoot

    • Not all players have arrived yet and some played 90 minutes in their most recent games so are still a bit tired.

I think this was the team. Armani/Rulli; Foyth, Romero, Pezzella, Molina; Paredes, De Paul, Palacios; Messi, Di Dimaria, Alvarez.

  5. Thankfully no more injuries during the last matches for any player. Hopefully people will get back to rythm in time. Lets go!!

  6. Guess who is back boys!
I have been checking up on the blog here and there.
I have alot to comment about (injuries, new jerseys, formations, big Papu, asados) but I will save it for another post as I’m traveling and won’t have connection again till tonight.

          • Ebo too. i really hope they all be healthy and good.

  7. Newcastle wants to pay more than 13 million for velez’s Maximo Perrone , can anyone share with us how good he is. Personally I haven’t seen him play.

    • Maxim perron is the top talented young midfielder in primera Division as well as Carlos alcarez frm Racing , santhiago Heze frm Huraqan, alan varela frm Boca.

    • He is the reason Velez played good football in copa libeteros and Velez missed him in semi final due to injury. He’s very skillful midfielder and scored some long rang goal.
