Emiliano Dibu Martínez spoke about himself, Lionel Messi and Lionel Scaloni winning the Best FIFA awards.
Dibu Martínez gave an interview with TyC Sports where he spoke about his World Cup celebration, Lionel Messi and the saves against the Netherlands at the World Cup. In the same interview, Dibu commented on being nominated and going to the Best FIFA awards. He revealed what he told Lionel Messi before the awards:
“I didn’t expect it. I was messing with Leo, I told him “I’m travelling, I’d be happy if you and Scaloni win it. And I’ll eat for free.
“It’s the union we have in the group. I get happy when a team mate wins something and not me… it’s the same for them. They feel happy that I win a trophy or whatever it is, that’s friendship and family. The three of us were very excited.”
Martínez also told Gastón Edul in the interview what he sent his team mates on Whatsapp:
“Thank you so much for doing this for me, it’s a big part of them. I would have loved to say each of the names of the guys who helped me in the national team to achieve that trophy. But the emotions and tears were already coming to my eyes. We are going for more, the country deserves us to keep giving them joy, for the joy they gave us during the World Cup. They made us win the World Cup.”
