Julián Álvarez reportedly signs new Manchester City contract

Julián Álvarez has reportedly signed a new contract with Manchester City.

Álvarez has put pen to paper and signed an improved contract with the club. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Argentine signed a deal in Manchester on Thursday and the contract is until June 2028 with an improved salary.

The 23 year old signed with the reigning league champions in January 2022 from River Plate but played his first match with the club in July. He has since gone on to score in every competition and won the World Cup with the Argentina national team.

He has played 33 matches with the club, scoring 10 goals.

  1. Happy for Alvarez. But he should try to do stunning things even in the limited time he is getting on the pitch. That can give him break for longer durations and important games.

  2. Not many big clubs are looking for a striker so his option was to go to a midtable team to get regular playing time but the only midtable teams in EPL could afford him ( city won’t sell him for less than 40-50mil), other leagues are broke and going to PSG would be suicidal for his career as he hasn’t even entered his peak. Additionally, Pep is also trying to lure MacAllister to strengthen his bench as his other mids are looking to move out due to less playing time.

  3. Good for him. I was hoping for this. He needs atleast one more season with MC at the biggest levels before he can truly decide what to do next in 2025 or 2026.
