Gonzalo Montiel has joined Nottingham Forest on a loan deal.

Montiel is the latest Argentine to sign with a Premier League club. Nottingham Forest announced the season long loan deal, which could become permanent, on Wednesday.

The 26 year old World Cup winner joins them from Sevilla, where he won the UEFA Europa League. The Argentine spoke about his move to Nottingham Forest’s websites. Here is what he had to say:

“I’m really happy to have joined this club.

“I’m coming here full of expectations, of getting to play and showing what I can do. I’m also hungry to win things, to win trophies, now’s the time to show this.

“I’ve been watching the Premier League since I was child, I used to watch every game. As a player you want to play in the best league, and the Premier League is just that.”

Nottingham Forest’s Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson had this to say about the move:

“We are pleased to welcome Gonzalo and his family to Nottingham.

“He has already experienced some major achievements in his career and he is looking forward with anticipation to the next chapter with Nottingham Forest.”

  1. Montiel may not be an elite or world class right-back but he’s the man for the finals and a great penalty taker. He owned Neymar in the Copa final and his seemingly “no-look” penalty was decisive for us. Plus if I remember correctly it was his looping pass that led to our third goal in extra time that Messi scored.

It seems like he wanted to play in EPL and Forest are hopefully just a stepping stone for him. I think he would be good for clubs like West Ham, Wolves and Aston Villa for example.

  2. Forever printed in our minds, with ICE in his veins, making his PK and winning the WC…….he was so cool initially that I thought that game wasn’t over until he took off his jersey….unforgettable!

  3. Great Move! He will get regular playing time in the fastest league in the world and even if Forest get relegated, he doesn’t need to go down with them as he is on loan and if he performs good against big teams then he won’t stay with N.Forest for too long.

Also, Icardi scored a great goal, a very difficult goal. He is only 30years old and if he continues his form, I don’t see him playing in Turkish league for too long. Last season played only 60% of matches and scored 29 goals!

  4. My Argentina x1 in the epl is perfect completed now
